One of my FAVORITE dishes is anything buffalo… 🙂 I mean I go crazy for it! There is not one style I have not tried. Baked, Fried, Super Spicy or Mild and Sweet. Drenched in Whiskey or Wine. I have had them ALL! Lot’s of those recipes have come from my own experiments as some have also come from borrowed ideas.
SO… Going back to my 2nd Blog post… I LOVE ANYTHING SWEET AND SOUR! Add some kick and you have won my heart. <3 Literally!
I hope you enjoy this recipe. It’s one of my favorites that took about 2 months to get right. I prefer my buffalo style drumsticks baked instead of fried. A lot healthier.
Go get all your ingredients together…
Elena’s Saffron & Honey Buffalo Drumsticks – Serves 5 (or less or more)
- 10 Chicken drumstick – clean and dried
- Cooking Spray – for roaster grill pan
- 1 Tbsp Salt
- 1 Tbsp Fresh Ground Pepper
For the Sauce
- 2 Sticks of Butter – Melted
- 5oz Frank’s RedHot Original Cayenne Pepper Sauce
- 1 Tsp Garlic Salt
- 1 Tsp Honey
- 1 Tsp Saffron
- 1/2 Tsp Vinegar
Step 1 – Preheat oven to 425 deg. Spray the roaster grill with cooking spray. Add salt and pepper to the drumsticks and align on roaster grill.
Step 2 – Cook one side 30 min, turn over and cook another 45 min.
Step 3 – Making the sauce… Melt the 2 sticks of butter. In a blender on low speed blend together… butter, hot sauce, honey, vinegar, garlic salt & saffron.
Step 4 – Put sauce and drumsticks in a large mixing bowl and toss and let stand for 2 min. Toss again and let stand for 5 minutes. Toss again and return to the roaster oven and let bake for another 10 min.
Step 5 – Re-dip drumsticks in the sauce. Let stand for 5 minutes.
Step 6 – Put in a serving dish… drizzle some of the left over sauce on top.
Serve with your favorite side and enjoy!!
